SK Telecom (SKT), MediaTek and start-up Nota AI developed AI-based device technology to reduce smartphone power use, addressing what the operator stated is a key influence on customer experience.

The technology predicts when data transmission is set to occur to maintain an optimal connection status between a smartphone and the base station.

In a statement, SKT noted battery life is “an important factor” in customer experience.

This artificial intelligence solution collects traffic data from a standard CCTV camera at the intersection, processes it in real-time to calculate traffic flow, time-mean speed and occupancy similar to existing, passive sensors such as loop detectors and radar.

Milton Keynes City Council and the Connected Places Catapult have launched a UK Testbed Initiative with the Korean International Trade Association that will oversee the work.
